Odiongan, Romblon– “You did not apply from a job but you are all automatically hired,” said Joelen Rutor, DPWH Provincial Officer in an orientation to 14 Trabahong Lansangan beneficiaries last March 17, 2014 at the Department of Public Works and Highways  (DPWH) Provincial Office.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and DPWH states that 20 percent of the unskilled labor requirement will be filled by the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries who are identified poor by the DSWD’s targeting mechanism – Listahanan.

Trabahong Lansangan workers earn Php409.00 per day for 3 months. “They will be doing roadside maintenance, vegetation control, cleaning of canals, culverts and pothole patching,” Rutor added.

To date, 98 families  get job from DPWH in Romblon province.

The said program is a convergence effort of DSWD and DPWH to provide employment which will contribute to poverty alleviation and improve the quality of life of the poor families. ###
