Bulalacao local officials give inputs on how the Listahanan  assessment will come up a better and accurate result.

BULALACAO, ORIENTAL MINDORO- The Department of Social Welfare and Development  (DSWD) Field Office IV- MiMaRoPa intensifies  its campaign  for  support from local government units and stakeholders for the Listahanan nationwide household assessment this second quarter of 2014.

In a meeting organized by the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program Municipal Links last March 29, 2014 at the Bulalacao Municipal Hall attended by CSOs partners and local officials, the National Household Targeting Unit has oriented participants on Listahanan and its relevance in the identification of beneficiaries of DSWD social protection programs. Highlight of the said orientation   was the role of stakeholders in the conduct of enumeration.

Issue on how to saturate all Indigenous People (IP) community was among concerns raised in the open forum. “We will provide assistance for this household assessment and make sure IP households in town will be included,” one of the  resolutions proposed by  School Principal Toto Genabe.

Prior to the meeting, Bulalacao Mayor Edna Villas said they will provide additional staff to assist DSWD enumerators on the conduct of house-to-house interviews. This is to ensure that all poor families in said municipality will be captured in the database and become potential beneficiaries of government programs.

There are four Area Supervisors and 19 Enumerators to be deployed targeting 9, 135 households in  entire Bulalacao.

In Oriental Mindoro, Listahanan targets a total of 177,459 households for enlistment. Nevertheless, DSWD asks the public to help monitor household assessment and be vigilant enough to report wrong doings of staff.

Early this March, the Department has conducted series of face-to-face orientation to some local government units in Oriental Mindoro and Romblon provinces to advocate support on this national activity.

Listahanan is the Department’s mechanism of identifying who and where the poor are that started in 2009 and has to be updated this year. ###
