Malate, Manila – As of 5:00PM, 26 April, there are 20, 704 affected farmers/fisherfolks in 57 municipalities of MiMaRoPa.

Department of Social Welfare and Development has already provided a total of Php 4,715,664.65 relief assistance to 5,600 affected families in MiMaRoPa.

Among the 20,329 affected farmers/fisherfolks, 823 are from Oriental Mindoro;  3, 941 are from Occidental Mindoro; 2,320 are from Romblon; 1,409 are from Marinduque; and 12, 980 are from Palawan.

605 out of 1,170 affected families in Cagayancillo, Palawan are Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries.

For Oriental Mindoro, in which12 municipalities are affected, DSWD has already provided a total of Php28,110.00 worth of relief assistance. Majority of the crops affected are watermelon.

On the other hand, as for Occidental Mindoro, El Niño hit 10 municipalities of the province.  DSWD, in order to mitigate the impact of El Nino Phenomenon, has already provided P918, 353.40 worth of relief assistance.

Also, DSWD has already provided Php 269, 401.25 worth of relief assistance to affected families in Romblon while P3,499,800.00 has already provided to affected families in Palawan.

Municipal Local Government Unit of Dumaran, Palawan has declared the city under the state of calamity.

DSWD Quick Response Teams are exerting their preeminent effort in order to provide assistance to the affected families. In line with this, there is an on-going assessment and validation of indigenous peoples (IPs) in MiMaRoPa who are affected by El Niño. ###
