MALATE, Manila- Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MiMaRoPa hired 81 youth regionwide for the Government Internship Program or GIP.

Eleven youth are hired in the province Occidental Mindoro, 16 in Oriental Mindoro, six in Marinduque, 17 in Romblon, and 22 in Palawan.

GIP is one of the components of the Kabataan 2000 program which provides opportunity for both out-of-school and in-school youths a hands-on experience of working in various government agencies. It enables them to learn life skills in the workplace while earning money to help them meet their school needs.

“They are assigned at the DSWD regional and provincial offices and at the different local government unit offices for 22 days and will receive a remuneration of Php 206.00 per day or a total of Php 4,532.00,” said Concepcion Deymos, DSWD youth sector focal person.

Meanwhile, the salary is expected to be released on the second week of June 2016.

“Mas lalong nalilinang ang kakayahan ko. Unang-una marami akong nakikilala at nagiging kaibigan. Pangalawa, nagiging mas professional ako dahil sa pagkakataong makapagtrabaho sa gobyerno. At higit sa lahat, malaking tulong ang perang kikitain ko para sa pagpapatuloy ng pagaaral ko,” said intern Cyrille Delos Santos, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student. ###
