Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to monitor the impact of Typhoon ‘Nina’ and provide relief assistance to affected areas and families in MIMAROPA.

As of 3 AM today, ‘Nina’ has affected 22, 673 families or 48, 426 individuals in 204 barangays of Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro.

Around 134 families or 538 persons are still staying in 3 evacuation centers while 9 families or 48 persons are with their relatives and friends.

To date, DSWD has identified 21 casualties: 1 dead; 18 injured; and 2 missing.

Meanwhile, the number of damaged houses has increased to 20,666 in Region MIMAROPA: of which, 16, 710 are partially damaged, while 3, 956 are totally damaged.

Also there’s still no electricity in Marinduque and some municipalities of Oriental Mindoro.

DSWD unceasingly provides relief assistance to affected areas in MIMAROPA.

A total of Php 462, 412.00 cost of assistance has been provided to the affected families: Php 101, 595.00 from DSWD while Php 368, 665.00 from the Local Government Unit (LGU).

Meanwhile, DSWD MIMAROPA has a total of 43, 870 Family Food Packs (FFPs) on stock at its SWADT and Regional Warehouses and available Standby funds amounting to Php 2,368,608.54.

The DSWD MIMAROPA in coordination with its partner-agencies and LGU will continuously and closely monitor the impact of typhoon Nina and update the status of relief assistance provided to affected families in MIMAROPA. ###
