Last October 11-12, 2017, the Sustainable Livelihood Program conducted a skills training on Upgraded Native Pig Production for 54 program members. In partnership with the Provincial Government of Marinduque and Local Government of Mogpog, the event was clustered in two batches: batch 1 was held at Brgy. Anapog Sibucao and Janagdong and batch 2 at Brgy. Butansapa.

Provincial Agriculture Office (PAGRO) Agricultural Center Chief II Mr. Elmer V. Marbello and Mogpog Municipal Health Office (MHO) Sanitation Health Officers II Ms. Glotilde G. Santos and Ms. Clarita N. Ola, served as the resource speakers who shared their knowledge and skills on hog raising.

DSWD Implementing Project Development Officer II Ms. Marieta J. Manzo and LGU Livelihood Worker Mr. Celso Lampas facilitated the skills training for the participants. Hon. Dominador Del Prado Jr., Barangay Chairman of Janagdong, welcomed the participants as he gave practical examples in livelihood approach and management. Succeeding his opening remarks was Municipal Mayor Hon. Augusto Leo M. Livelo who shared his own techniques, tips, and personal experiences in hog raising.

Mr. Marbello provided a lecture on types of hogs, alternative feeds and feeding management, housing requirements, pests and diseases, and basic cash flow analysis or income-expense statement essential for hog raising. Meanwhile, Ms. Santos and Ms. Ola discussed the health and proper sanitation pertaining to hog raising.

After the training, the participants earned their certificate of participation along with 2 hogs, 4 sacks of feeds, and vitamins and medicines amounting to Php 10,214.00 per participant as a starter kit for their hog raising business.
