Through the efforts of Program Coordinator, Adonis T. Analista and Monitoring Project Development Officer (MPDO), Angelica Rose M. Malitao of the Sustainable Livelihood Program, DSWD MIMAROPA conducted the Final Assessment and Validation among the 33 target beneficiaries to receive the Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) in the Municipality of Buenavista in Marinduque on July 13-15, 2020.

Among the 15 barangays in the municipality, 13 were prioritized to be the target barangays for LAG. The following is the breakdown of barangays: Barangay Uno (2 families), Barangay Quatro (1 family), Bagacay (2 families), Bagtingon (1 family), Bicas-Bicas (2 families), Caigangan (3 families), Daykitin (4 families), Libas (3 familes), Malbog (3 families), Sihi (1 family), Timbo (1 family), Tungib– Lipata (4 families) and Yook (6 families).

The main tool used for the Final Assessment and Validation was Livelihood Assessment Form that was accomplished to evaluate the eligibility of every target families and assess the feasibility and profitability of their proposed project.

To ensure the proper utilization of funds, the Local Government Unit of Buenavista was first oriented regarding the LAG Implementation during the Municipal Inter–Agency Committee Meeting last June 11, 2020 followed by the Initial Orientation on LAG and workshop for the formulation of Livelihood Recovery Project Proposal (LRPP) on June 25, 2020 and further discussed the implementation process and criteria in the selection of target beneficiaries.

From the starting process of LAG Implementation to the identification of target barangays and participants, Municipal Mayor Nancy Castro Madrigal, Local Social Welfare and Development Officer (LSWDO) Ms. Jerosa S. Malvar and Municipal Agriculturist Ms. Maria Eloisa A. Apostol (LGU LAG Focal) have given their full support for the efficient and smooth flow of the program in the LGU.

The provision of the Livelihood Assistance Grant as one of the Social Amelioration Program of DSWD aims to assist families that are qualified to belong in the low income households with economic recovery and rehabilitation of their livelihood. Qualified beneficiaries are those who are affected by the community quarantine due to COVID– 19 pandemic and those who will be continuously affected 3 to 6 months after the community quarantine was lifted. Thus, the LGU of Buenavista expressed their vision in securing that the funds will be utilized and the projects will bring them profit and help them in their daily lives.
