Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MIMAROPA turned over 10.5M worth of sub-projects in various communities in the Municipality of Gloria, Oriental Mindoro.
The community led sub-projects were under the DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (KKB).
The recently completed subprojects include the concreting of access roads in Barangays Alma Villa, Balete, Maligaya, and Tambong and construction of a three-unit classroom at the Melicio D. Cantos Memorial Elementary School in Barangay Macario Adriatico.
Community volunteers expressed gratitude to the DSWD and the municipality of Gloria for facilitating the sub-projects.
In her message, Assistant Regional Director for Operations Purificacion R. Arriola emphasized the important role of the beneficiaries in the improvement and maintenance of the sub-projects given to them.
Assistant Director Arriola assured that the DSWD thru the partnership with the local government of Gloria will continue to support the communities in the municipality.
The Local Government of Gloria already institutionalized and adopt Community-Driven Development (CDD) in the implementation of their projects for their constituents.
The CDD approach ensures that development priorities are addressed in a participatory, collective, inclusive, and in demand-driven way.
KALAHI-CIDSS is a poverty alleviation project of the DSWD that uses community-driven development (CDD) approach aiming to reduce poverty by empowering communities and promoting good governance, through the provision of support for community projects and activities, and encouraging local government responsiveness to community-identified development projects.
