The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to capacitate community-volunteers through the implementation of Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (KKB) sub-projects.
The Php 900k extension of the multi-purpose hall in Brgy. Poblacion, San Agustin, Romblon will serve as an isolation facility for mild and asymptomatic patients. Also, this will serve as an evacuation facility in times of calamities.
This newly turned-over facility will have a six-bed capacity with amenities that are compliant with the existing standards to ensure the safety of the nearby households. It was conceptualized under the Disaster Response Modality (DROM) approach of the program in helping the communities to shift their project from regular developmental activities into disaster response.
The ceremony was attended by the local chief executive, community volunteers, Area and Municipal coordinating team, and barangay officials.
According to Barangay Development Council – Technical Working Group (BDC-TWG) Chairperson, this facility will help their community to manage properly the pandemic response in their barangay. They will utilize the facility not just for the treatment and isolation but it will also serve as an evacuation center in times of calamities.
KALAHI-CIDSS is one of the flagship programs of the DSWD in empowering more communities in addressing concerns by providing capacity-building, implementation support to poverty-disadvantaged, and disaster-affected municipalities
