PUERTO PRINCESA CITY- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MIMAROPA handed over the Listahanan 3 list of the poor to the Provincial Government of Palawan after completing the requirements of the Data Sharing Agreement (DSA).

“We believe that the DSWD Listahanan 3 Database of Poor will be of great help to the Provincial Government of Palawan to help navigate our priority programs and guarantee that our services are responsive to the needs and demands of our constituents,” says Governor Victorino Dennis Socrates.

According to the latest data from Listahanan, the government’s mechanism in identifying who and where the poor are, there are 70,723 (36.6%) households identified as poor or equivalent to 396,762 poor individuals in the Province of Palawan.

The areas with the highest magnitude of poor in the province are the Municipalities of Bataraza, Balabac, Taytay, and Rizal.

It is important in this digital age to have an accessible and accurate information system that would enable to visualize the current socio-economic status and ensure programs are cascaded to the target recipients, added Socrates.

Palawan is the first provincial government to enter into a DSA with DSWD MIMAROPA.

The Listahanan 3 database can be used for planning and budgeting references, local investments, and programming. It can also be used as a reference for academic research, and as the registry of the poor as the potential list of beneficiaries of various social protections.

Interested parties who would like to access the DSWD list of poor must accomplish the standard DSA form, designate a data protection officer, and establish security measures in compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.###
