MALATE, MANILA — In 2024, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office MIMAROPA, through the National Household Targeting Section (NHTS), achieved remarkable milestones by harnessing the power of accurate data from the Listahanan database.
The Listahanan as the database of the poor, continues to play a vital role in ensuring that social welfare programs effectively reach those who need them most, improving the quality of life for communities across the country.
For the past year, NHTS MIMAROPA granted 100% of its twelve (12) targeted requests for statistical data while it went beyond expectations by completing eighty (80) requests for name-matching services—an impressive 667% of its original target.
On Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) household validation, 8,737 were successfully assessed, while 4,135 were delisted during its second round of 4Ps Special Validation conducted from November 2023 to February 2024.
The third round of special validation commenced from May to October 2024, 930 households were targeted, with 643 assessed successfully.
As the next step for the remaining unassessed households, a series of spot checks were conducted, along with the inclusion of these households in the recent round of validation, ensuring all households were properly assessed and included in the system.
Partnerships remain an integral process in the Listahanan implementation and a major focus in 2024 that secured several Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs) with local government units (LGUs).
Five (5) agreements were finalized with DSAs between the LGUs of Mamburao and Magsaysay in Occidental Mindoro, Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro, and Rizal and Aborlan in Palawan, while two (2) more agreements with San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, and Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro, are in progress.
These partnerships ensure that LGUs have access to critical data for planning and implementing social welfare and development programs and services.
“With this comprehensive data, we can make sure that our resources go where they are needed most, improving services and the quality of life for everyone in our community.” Mayor Cesar M. Tria Jr. expressed his appreciation during the DSA turnover in Magsaysay Occidental Mindoro.
Further, the i-Registro system was successfully pilot tested in Pateros by the DSWD National Household Targeting Office (NHTO) in July 2024 which focuses on registering and managing data for vulnerable groups, such as pregnant and lactating women with children aged 0–2 years.
This ground breaking activity marks the start of the broader implementation of the Dynamic Social Registry (DSR), an innovative approach to streamlining social protection programs.
To engage the public and keep them informed, the NHTO launched the i-Registro Facebook page, providing updates and encouraging greater participation.
The region made significant efforts by actively conducting media interviews and organizing comprehensive orientations for staff and LGUs. These initiatives were crucial in ensuring that all stakeholders were thoroughly informed and fully prepared for the successful implementation of the program.
As 2024 concludes, the NHTS remains committed to DSWD’s mission of promoting inclusive development by ensuring accurate data, fostering strong partnerships, and introducing innovative systems to make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable members of society.
