Occidental Mindoro โ€” The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office MIMAROPA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining neutrality and strictly adhering to Commission on Elections (COMELEC) guidelines prohibiting electioneering and the use of government resources for political gain.

This statement comes as the COMELEC initiates an investigation into the involvement of an incumbent local official who was reportedly present during the distribution of assistance in Occidental Mindoro.

COMELEC Chairman George Garcia emphasized that such acts may be considered an abuse of state resources and are strictly prohibited under election laws. “Bawal po ito at maituturing na abuse of state resources,” Chairman Garcia stated, as reported by Johnson Manabat of ABS-CBN News.

Following an initial inquiry, DSWD MIMAROPA clarified that the activity in question did not involve or distribute any form of DSWD-provided assistance.

The Department maintains a strict policy ensuring that all aid distribution efforts are insulated from political activity, especially during sensitive periods leading up to elections.

It was further noted that the Philippine National Police (PNP) is handling the case to determine possible violations and appropriate actions in accordance with existing laws.

The DSWD remains steadfast in its commitment to deliver programs and services impartially and assures the public of its full cooperation with authorities to uphold the integrity of public service delivery.
