BOAC, MARINDUQUE – DSWD Field MIMAROPA through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) actively participated in the annual Marinduque Expo Agri-Tourism Trade Fair held in San Miguel, Boac, Marinduque from April 14 to 21, 2025. 

The event also served as a platform to promote the Department’s ongoing communications campaign, “Tamang Tulong sa Tamang Impormasyon.”

Organized by the Provincial Government of Marinduque in collaboration with the Municipal Government of Boac and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the week-long trade fair aims to promote micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by showcasing local products, agriculture, trade, tourism, and cultural heritage. 

A total of 107 exhibitors including DSWD SLP Associations joined the event, featuring both food and non-food products.

The fair officially opened on April 14, Holy Monday, and was graced by key local leaders and stakeholders, including Congressman Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco, Governor Presbitero J. Velasco, Vice Governor Adeline M. Angeles, Provincial Adviser Sonny Paglinawan, members of the Provincial Board, Boac Mayor Armi DC. Carrion, Provincial Tourism Officer Rino P. Labay, DTI Provincial Director Roniel M. Macatol, Marinduque Tourism Council President Susan Nace, and representatives from various government agencies, private institutions, and MSMEs.

The SLPAs showcased two booths featuring a variety of food and non-food products developed by program participants.

Among the items sold were buko pie, buko juice, kakanin, processed nuts, peanut butter, polvoron, arrowroot products, yema, banana and cassava chips, bukayo, handmade bags, butterfly frames, vermicast, carbonized rice hull, coco peat, lampshades, bamboo plates, buri crafts, crochet items, keychains, and Morion-themed souvenirs. 

The booths generated ₱35,503.00 in total sales, while also opening up opportunities for future product orders and partnerships from tourists and local visitors. 

Similarly, Arjay A. Historillo, DSWD-SLP Project Development Officer II led the promotion of the “Tamang Tulong sa Tamang Impormasyon (3Ti)” campaign during the event. 

The initiative is designed to provide program participants, stakeholders, and the public with accurate, timely, and relevant information, particularly in combating misinformation and disinformation about DSWD programs and services. 

Historillo encouraged booth visitors and program participants to stay connected to DSWD’s official channels for credible updates. 

Informational brochures and flyers were also distributed to raise awareness and extend the campaign’s reach.
