DSWD MIMAROPA Strengthens Peace and Development in Mindoro Through PAMANA Projects
MIMAROPA Region — Reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive peace and development, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office MIMAROPA, in partnership with the Peace and Development Buong Bansa Mapayapa (PDBBM) National Program Management Office (NPMO) and the PAMANA Regional Program Management Office (RPMO), successfully carried out a series of community-based activities under the PAyapa at MAsaganang pamayaNAn (PAMANA) Program in Oriental and Occidental Mindoro.
From July 26 to August 1, DSWD MIMAROPA visited several barangays in Oriental Mindoro — including Villa Cerveza in Victoria; Buong Lupa, Malamig, and Manguyang in Gloria; Lisap and Hagan in Bongabong; Panaytayan in Mansalay; and Nasucob in Bulalacao — and concluded in Brgy. Naibuan and Brgy. Monte Claro in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.
The week-long activity involved the awarding of Seed Capital Funds to PAMANA LGU-led Livelihood Beneficiaries and groundbreaking ceremonies for community sub-projects that aim to uplift conflict-affected and geographically isolated communities through sustainable livelihood and basic social services.
The success of this endeavor is also attributed to the full support and cooperation of the Local Government Units (LGUs), the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). Their active participation and continued collaboration reinforce the Whole-of-Nation Approach in addressing the root causes of conflict and achieving lasting peace.
These initiatives are part of the broader PAMANA framework, the Philippine government’s peace and development program that bridges governance and peacebuilding by addressing development gaps in vulnerable communities.
The PDBBM-NPMO and PAMANA RPMO provided essential technical assistance and program oversight to ensure that interventions were responsive, inclusive, and grounded in the realities of the communities served.
“Through this joint effort, we affirm that peace and development must go hand in hand,” said DSWD MIMAROPA Regional Director Leonardo C. Reynoso, CESO III. “Together with our partners at the national and local levels, we are building a foundation where communities can thrive in safety, dignity, and economic resilience.”
This activity is aligned with Executive Order No. 70, which institutionalizes the Whole-of-Nation Approach to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC), and highlights DSWD’s steadfast role in advancing social protection, community empowerment, and sustainable peace in the MIMAROPA region.
