To further strengthen local governance and promote the sustainability of community-driven development (CDD) initiatives, the KALAHI-CIDSS Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) of DSWD Field Office MIMAROPA conducted the Local Government Unit (LGU) Capacity Assessment from September 23 to October 14, 2025, across 24 municipalities in the region.
The assessment aimed to determine the readiness and capability of partner LGUs to manage and sustain CDD projects under the LGU-led implementation phase of KALAHI-CIDSS.
Through interviews, document reviews, and focus group discussions, the activity gathered valuable insights on each LGUโ€™s strengths and areas for improvement in governance, financial management, and project implementation.
Participating municipalities include Calatrava, Cajidiocan, Ferrol, Looc, Magdiwang, Odiongan, San Agustin, San Andres, Sta. Maria (Imelda), San Jose, Romblon (Capital), and San Fernando in the province of Romblon; Abra de Ilog and Paluan in Occidental Mindoro; Baco, Bulalacao (San Pedro), and Mansalay in Oriental Mindoro; and Agutaya, Araceli, Bataraza, Culion, Cuyo, Magsaysay, and Sofronio Espaรฑola in Palawan.

The results of the assessment will guide the provision of targeted technical assistance and capacity-building interventions to further empower LGUs in promoting participatory, transparent, and accountable local development.

Through continued collaboration with local government partners, DSWD MIMAROPA reaffirms its commitment to advancing inclusive growth andย community empowerment under the KALAHI-CIDSS program.
