Roxas, Palawan – January 18, 2026 – The Barangay Council of Barangay 3, Roxas, Palawan, in partnership with community leaders, successfully conducted two livelihood trainings aimed at equipping Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) partner beneficiaries with practical skills for sustainable income generation.
The first training focused on Doormat and Pot Holder Making, while the second featured Banana Chips Production. Both initiatives sought to enhance the entrepreneurial potential of beneficiaries and strengthen economic resilience in the community.
Guided by the leadership of Hon. Ronald C. Miraflores, Barangay Captain, Hon. Johna Solivio, Barangay Solo Parent Focal Person, Rodelia Nangit, VAW Desk Officer, and Norly Tabujara, GAD Community Focal, the trainings provided participants with hands-on experience and knowledge that can be directly applied to income-generating activities.
The Doormat and Pot Holder Making Training, supported with ₱20,000 from the Barangay Council, covered the costs of food and training materials, ensuring that participants were fully equipped to learn and practice the craft. This program emphasized creativity, resourcefulness, and the value of locally-made products, contributing to the empowerment of families and the promotion of self-reliance.
Meanwhile, the Banana Chips Production Training, funded with ₱15,000, focused on food processing techniques that can help families start small-scale businesses. The activity was further enriched by the participation of two 4Ps beneficiaries who had previously undergone specialized TESDA training. Acting as resource speakers, they demonstrated how skills development programs can transform lives, inspiring their peers to become entrepreneurs and community role models.
“These trainings are part of our continuing efforts to provide practical livelihood opportunities for 4Ps beneficiaries, solo parents, and other vulnerable sectors,” said Barangay Captain Miraflores. “We are committed to promoting inclusive growth, gender and development initiatives, and the empowerment of our community through sustainable livelihood projects.”
The DSWD MIMAROPA recognizes Barangay 3’s dedication to nurturing skills, enhancing economic opportunities, and strengthening the resilience of families in the region. By providing practical knowledge and fostering self-sufficiency, these livelihood trainings contribute significantly to the broader goal of improving the quality of life for Pantawid Pamilya partner-beneficiaries.
