Calabogo and Tambac, Romblon — April 8, 2026 — The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), in partnership with SMART Communications and the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), successfully conducted the Bayanihan SIM Card Distribution benefiting 60 4Ps student-beneficiaries in the barangays of Calabogo and Tambac, Romblon.

The activity forms part of the DICT Bayanihan SIM Project, which provides free SIM cards with 25GB monthly data allocation valid for 12 months to public school students, teachers, and 4Ps beneficiaries, particularly those in underserved, remote, and Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA). The initiative aims to strengthen digital inclusion by supporting access to online learning, research, educational resources, and government services.

The distribution activity was made possible through the collaboration of DICT’s ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB), represented by Mr. James Patrick Jordan, PDO I, together with SMART Communications representative Mr. Joeber Solano. The activity was facilitated by Ms. Milles Faa, Municipal Link of Romblon, and Ms. Olive Joy Fetalsana, PDO II of the Provincial Operations Office.

Messages of support and encouragement were delivered by Hon. Lenie R. Mabunga, Punong Barangay of Calabogo, and Hon. Pablo R. De Capiz, Punong Barangay of Tambac, who highlighted the importance of digital connectivity in enhancing education, communication, and community development.

As part of the initiative, DICT also conducted an orientation on the proper and responsible use of the SIM cards to ensure beneficiaries are able to maximize its benefits for learning and communication purposes.

The Bayanihan SIM Project reflects the continuing commitment of DICT, DSWD, and partner stakeholders to advance digital inclusion and empower learners and families through improved access to information and communication technologies, ensuring that no Filipino is left behind in the digital age.
