Malate, Manila – The Senior Citizen Center (SCC) of Sta. Maria, Romblon received their certificate of accreditation from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) IV-MiMaRoPa for implementing programs and services that caters to the disadvantaged senior citizens in the community. Together with Regional Director Wilma D. Naviamos, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer of Sta. Maria, Marlyn Cumba, received the recognition last June 20, 2013 during the conduct of Social Welfare and Development Forum at the regional office in Malate, Manila.

The recognition was given by the Department to the organization after an assessment of their compliance with the requirements set by the Standards Bureau. The SSC is managed by the Sta. Maria Federation of Senior Citizens Association (SAMA SECA). They conduct various activities and provide services that cater to the welfare of the elders in the said municipality such as medical assistance, social pension, mortuary assistance, organic farming seminar, and recreational activities often done during Elderly Filipino Week.

The senior citizens in the municipality appreciate the efforts made by the organization in looking after their welfare. The accreditation given to SSC of Sta. Maria, Romblon is valid for three years until May 2016.
