San Fernando, Romblon – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MiMaRoPa through its Modified Conditional Cash Transfer (MCCT) of Pantawid Pamilya provided starter kits to create fishnets to 46 Indigenous Peoples (IPs).

The MCCT for IPs of the Pantawid Pamilya is an extensive coverage of program to reach the poorest of the poor who are not being served in the regular Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Program. In region MiMaRoPa, the ones covered were specifically the IPs who resides in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA).

The MCCT differed in implementation design by offering Support Services Intervention (SSI) for livelihood aside from the regular benefits of receiving cash grants of Php300 educational grant/child/month (for 10 school months) and Php500 health grant/month.

Moreover, the beneficiaries went through a skills training early February of this year to teach them on how to assemble their own fishnets. They were also taught on how to properly repair damages to ensure use of the fishnets in the long-run.
