DSWD orients beneficiaries on SLP and school processes before they formally start the training course.

BOAC, Marinduque- A total of 59 beneficiaries provincewide are enrolled to Computer System Servicing  under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

“Beneficiaries are members of the DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program who are 18 years old and above and identified as out-of-school youth,” said Sonia de Leon, SLP provincial coordinator.

These beneficiaries will be studying on computer systems installation and configuration  for three months at Marinduque Technical and Vocational Institute, a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) accredited school in Gasan town.

The Department has allocated Php472,000.00 for the training fee of the beneficiaries.

After completing the training course, the DSWD, local government units and other stakeholders will converge to provide local or national employment for these beneficiaries, added de Leon.

SLP is a community-based capacity-building program that seeks to improve the socio-economic status of its participants, is implemented using the Community-Driven Enterprise Development approach which enables participants to contribute to production and labor markets by looking at available resources and accessible markets.###
