ROXAS, ORIENTAL MINDORO — Children beneficiaries of the DSWD MIMAROPA Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) joined an information tour at the Materials Recovery Facility in Brgy. San Rafael, Roxas, Oriental Mindoro last March 2.

In partnership with the Municipal Environment and Sanitation Office of Roxas and through the Paclasan Youth Organization, more than 50 4Ps children beneficiaries were toured around the facility that processes garbage in the area.

According to Eduardo Villamin of Roxas Environment and Sanitation Office, the children were invited to provide them an opportunity to know more about the process of waste segregation, recycling, and management.

The information tour aims to encourage the children to be advocates of a plastic-free environment in line with the Roxas Municipal Ordinance No. 6 S. 2011 that prohibits the use of plastic bags and styrofoam on dry and wet goods.

Dapat ang bawat isa ay maging responsable pagdating sa basura at sumunod sa proper waste segregation upang mapanatiling malinis at malusog ang ating bayan”, said Richter Malubay, 4Ps beneficiary and a member of the Paclasan Youth Organization.

The Roxas Environment and Sanitation Office has also showed the children the process of composting which is used for biodegradable materials to create organic fertilizer. ###
