PUERTO PRINCESA CITY – The Provincial Government of Palawan recently approved Provincial Resolution 17250, series of 2022, authorizing Governor Victorino Dennis Socrates to enter into a data-sharing agreement with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to access the Listahanan 3 list of poor.
“We have been an active partner of DSWD Listahanan since the first round of enumeration. And the Provincial Government of Palawan is compliant in terms of the data-sharing agreement with the Department,” said Palawan Provincial Social Welfare and Development Welfare Office Abigail D. Ablaña.
Listahanan is an information management system that identifies the poor in the country.
It serves as the basis for identifying potential beneficiaries of various government social protection programs and services.
According to the new Listahanan 3 results, there are 70,723 (36.6%) households identified as poor or equivalent to 396,762 poor individuals in Palawan.
The areas with the highest magnitude of poor in the province are Bataraza, Balabac, Taytay, and Rizal.
The Listahanan 3 database can be used for local planning and budgeting references, local investments, and programming. It can also be used as a reference for academic research, and as the registry of the poor as the potential list of beneficiaries of various social protections.
Interested parties who would like to access the DSWD’s list of the poor must accomplish the standard data-sharing agreement form, designate a data protection officer, and establish security measures in compliance with the Data Privacy of 2012.
In 2014, DSWD MIMAROPA recognized the Palawan Provincial Government as Gawad Listahanan Champion, a recognition of the local government unit’s effort to promote convergence of all social protection programs on Listahanan identified poor to address problems of poverty. ###
