Like the finest grains of salt that enhance flavor and preserve sustenance, Realyn V. Cruz has proven that, just like salt, women bring depth, stability, and an essential force to both family and society.
In Barangay Poblacion, Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro, where the salt-making industry thrives under the scorching sun—Realyn, a wife, a mother of four, and a beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) stands as a symbol that true strength knows no gender.
Magsaysay thrives on its salt-making industry, a physically demanding trade often perceived as a man’s world. Yet, amidst the sweltering heat and the grueling labor, Realyn rises to the challenge with unwavering resolve. She scrapes salt, cleans salt beds, lays tiles, scoops, and carries heavy loads—tasks typically assigned to men. But for Realyn, there are no limitations.
“Kung ano ang kayang gawin ng mga lalaki ay kaya rin naming mga babae,” she boldly asserts.
Her hands, calloused yet strong, are tangible proof to her tireless efforts to sustain her family.

Beyond her contributions to the salt-making industry, Realyn’s journey as a 4Ps beneficiary has played a transformative role in her life. She found a newfound sense of confidence and empowerment through the program’s Family Development Sessions (FDS).
“Mas lumakas ang kumpiyansa ko sa sarili noong naging 4Ps beneficiary ang aming pamilya, dahil nagkaroon ako ng pagkakataong makisalamuha sa ibang tao at makilahok sa iba’t ibang gawain,” she shares.
These sessions not only equipped her with valuable life skills but also reinforced her belief in her own capabilities as a woman, a mother, and a contributor to the community.
Realyn’s life resonates with the theme’s essence “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.” She is a clear reflection to the evolving role of women in society—no longer confined to traditional roles but actively participating in nation-building. Her perseverance does not only uplift her own family but also sends a powerful message: women are not just supporters of progress; they are the driving force behind it.
Her path is not just about labor and survival; it is a story of challenging norms, and inspiring change. Realyn’s resilience proves that strength is not defined by gender but by determination and purpose.

She inspires with unwavering hope, not only for fellow 4Ps beneficiaries but for all women striving for equality and recognition in every aspect of life. In the era of “Bagong Pilipinas,” women like Realyn are not just part of the movement; they are leading it.
As the salt of the earth, Realyn Cruz is a reminder that true progress comes when society recognizes that the power to build a better future lies in the hands of both men and women. In her strength, we see a nation rising—one that values equality, perseverance, and the boundless potential of every individual, regardless of gender.###
