Three (3) livelihood projects in the municipality of Odiongan, Romblon under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) – Zero Hunger PCB of the DSWD MIMAROPA marked the commencement of their micro-enterprises last October 8, 2024.

The commodity store of the Fresh and Dry Goods Store SLPA, mechanized rice and vegetable farming project of the MA-FA SLPA, and the poultry raising project of the AMARITU SLPA with 79 members received a total seed capital fund of Php 1,185,000.00 last August 14, 2024.

During the launching, Rolando Meneses, SLP Special Concerns Officer, shared valuable technical knowledge on effective management to help the association achieve the program’s 5-Year Sustainability Plan and ensure their long-term success.

Likewise, Orville Mallorca, Provincial Director of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), also expressed support for the program, offering technical assistance such as guidance on basic bookkeeping and advanced technical skills needed to grow their projects.

The event was also graced by the presence of Odiongan Vice Mayor Diven Dimaala, Municipal Administrator Ramir Ramos, Community Organizer Elena Casidsid, and OIC Municipal Agriculture Officer Engr. Joel Fadera. 

The Zero Hunger Program is a convergence program that aims to address hunger, ensure food security, and reduce poverty in urban and rural communities.  It further provides livelihood assistance to vulnerable individuals and families, enabling them to start or expand income-generating activities. This, in turn, helps improve their food security and overall well-being.
