Malate Manila- The Department of Social Welfare and Development MiMaRoPa has set-up two (2) child friendly spaces in Bucayao National High School in Calapan City and San Isidro Evacuation Center in Victoria, Oriental Mindoro. The social workers in the area have conducted an assessment to the evacuation centers and saw the need to debrief the children from their drastic experience with the recent devastation of the typhoon. A total of 46 children where served in these facilities- twenty four (24) children in Bucayao and twenty two (22) children in Victoria.

 

Moreover, the cost of assistance provided to the victims of Typhoon Nona is now Php 11,501,256.84. From the latest report, the department has given Php 6,244,449.86 worth of Family Food Packs, Hygiene Kits and other non-food items while the LGU and the NGOs has given Php 5,094726.98 and Php 162,080.00 worth of food and non-food items respectively.

On the other hand, a total of 3,054 Family Food Packs has been distributed by the department today to the affected families in the Municipalities of Naujan and Pinamalayan in Oriental Mindoro and Boac in Marinduque. At the same time, 1,000 Family Food Packs, 185 packs of used clothes, and four (4) tents have been provided to the affected families in Banton, Romblon.
The repacking of Family Food packs is still on-going at the Regional Office of DSWD MiMaRoPa in Malate Manila and at the SWADT offices in the five provinces of MiMaRoPa. The department continues to seek the help of additional volunteers for the said repacking activities. ###
