Malate, Manila – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MiMaRoPa will host the 1st Regional Island Cluster – Regional Directors’ Consultation Workshop (RDCW) in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan this August 5-8, 2014.

With the aim to provide an improved quality of life to the vulnerable and poor, the activity will convene the different national agencies to work together, harmonize and complement the various programs and services of the government. This year’s theme is “Making Convergence Work Towards Inclusive Development: Increasing Productivity of Pantawid Beneficiaries for Improved and Sustained Income Generation”.

“We mainly cater to our Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries but not rely on the program alone to help them uplift their lives. We are converging our efforts and all the possible programs and services of the different government agencies in providing them with the capacity to sustain progress and well-being even after they graduate from the program,” said Regional Director Wilma D. Naviamos.

Updates on the implementation of the program will be presented particularly with the extension of age coverage of the program to 18 years old. There will also be a consultation and workshop to ensure full convergence of actions among the national government agencies.

The activity aims to strengthen the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilya as a human development program of the national government that invests in the health and education of poor households, particularly of children aged 0-18 years old. ###
