Malate, Manila- According to the latest report, there are 113,971 families in MiMaRoPa affected by Typhoon Nona. The typhoon caused widespread damage to the provinces of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Romblon and Marinduque. Reported totally damaged houses increased to 30,830 while the number of partially damaged houses remain at 53,878.

DSWD MiMaRoPa has now provided Php 5.6 Million worth of Family Food Packs, Hygiene Kits and other non-food items to the affected families. Support from LGUs now amount to almost Php 5 Million worth of food and non-food items and concerned NGOs offered cash assistance of Php 50 thousand.

Aside from relief assistance, six social workers were deployed to conduct stress debriefing and psychological first-aid to the families of Oriental Mindoro.

Repacking of family food packs continue in the regional office warehouse. A few volunteers have already assisted in the relief operations. Individuals who are willing to extend their support are encouraged to present themselves at the DSWD MiMaRoPa Office.
