MALATE, Manila- Beneficiaries in Boac, Mogpog, Torrijos towns in Marinduque received livelihood assistance from the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

There are 19 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries from Barangay Mansiwat, in Boac were trained on Hog Raising and Meat Processing in coordination with Department of Agriculture.

Another P195,000 fund was released for pre-employment assistance and livelihood grants for two Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPA) in Barangay Bolo and Mabuhay in the town of Torrijos.

Also, 25 units of pedicab were awarded to Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries in Barangay Janagdong and Nangka II in the municipality of Mogpog after completing the 268-hours skill training on Shielded Metal Arc Welding or SMAW.

To date, DSWD serves a total of 1,914 beneficiaries provincewide for various livelihood programs.

SLP is a community-based capacity-building program that seeks to improve the socio-economic status of its participants, is implemented using the Community-Driven Enterprise Development approach which enables participants to contribute to production and labor markets by looking at available resources and accessible markets.###
