Tagaytay City— “DSWD have always been biased to those who are poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged. The very essence of the department is to empower these sectors and enable them to live with dignity”. Said Regional Program Coordinator Geneliza Gabilan as she welcomed the participants of the Leadership for Convergence Training for KC MCT last October 10-13, 2017 in Bali Village Hotel in Tagaytay City. Attended mostly by the Kalahi CIDSS Municipal Coordinating Team, the counterpart of Kalahi CIDSS Area Coordinating Teams, the three-day training aimed to enhance the participants’ strategic leadership and critical thinking skills, initiate strategies on how the community and LGU could effectively work together, and improve the participants’ collaboration, coordination and communication skills.

The Leadership for Convergence Program is a five (5) module course about the three-staged framework of Bridging Leadership namely: The Self and the Social Divide, My Personal and Shared Response, Leading Change: Systems Thinking, Strengthening Partnerships through Multi Stakeholders’ Engagement, and the Dialogic Process.

As one of the goals of the workshop, the participants had produced a Leadership Development Plan wherein they will work on the context of local enablement and development, where the power to effectively identify and implement projects based on the needs of the people.

LCP is part of the capacitation activities done by the Kalahi CIDSS MIMAROPA’s  Capability Building Unit as it prepares communities to become CDD advocates themselves. Since the MCT members shape the outcome of KC NCDDP, they are thus considered as one of the primary backbone to the program’s success.
