Aiming to bring its programs and services closer to the people that it mandated to serve, protect and empower, the Department of Social Welfare and Development together with its partner-stakeholders steered Serbisyo Caravan in three municipalities of Mogpog, Boac and Sta. Cruz Marinduque on 5 to 6 June 2018.

Ginawa po namin ang Information/Serbisyo Caravan na ito upang kami na po mismo ang lumapit sa at magbigay sa inyo ng maagap at mapagkalingang serbisyo. Nais po namin na lahat ay aming mapaglingkuran lalo na po ang mga nasa laylayan ng lipunan at ang mga nasa pinakamalalayong lugar na hindi pa po namin naabot,“ ika ni DSWD MIMAROPA Assistant Regional Director Floreceli G. Gunio.

During the Information Caravan, participants were oriented about DSWD’s various programs and services, such as its Protective Services for disadvantaged and vulnerable sectors and Promotive Programs such as Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS), and Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

Booths and help desks were also setup to provide immediate service to the clients. Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials

DSWD put up kiosk for participants who would like to avail Assistance to Individuals and Families in Crisis Situation (AICS) which includes educational, medical, transportation and burial services.

For AICS, a total of P109, 500.00 was disbursed for 35 clients who availed the service in Mogpog, Boac and Sta. Cruz Marinduque.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and Municipal SWDO also given their support by setting up booth for the Solo Parent, Person with Disability and Senior Citizen Identity Document (ID).

Department of Health through their Provincial and Municipal Health Office provided medical services such as: voluntary bloodletting; wellness service; advice on adolescent health and teenage pregnancy; and dental program.

On the other hand, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority provided free massage service; Department of Agriculture distributed free seedlings; and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources gave free fingerlings.

Also, Philippine National Police through its Police Provincial Office attended the caravan to ensure safety and security of participants while Department of Science and Technology offered consultations for livelihood and scholarship.

Meanwhile, Provincial Government Unit of Marinduque and Local Government Unit of Mogpog, Boac, Sta. Cruz also extended their unwavering support to the activity through their logistic and manpower assistance.

Information Caravan is also in line with the Duterte administration’s thrust of providing prompt government services to the citizenry. ###
