Ten outstanding community volunteers from selected partner municipalities of Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services or Kalahi-CIDSS program are set to represent the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MIMAROPA in the upcoming National Community Volunteers’ Congress in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte on August 13-16, 2019.

Barangay Sub-Project Management Committee (BSPMC) chairpersons from the municipalities of Quezon, Balabac, Taytay, and Narra in Palawan, Calatrava and Magdiwang in Romblon, Magsaysay and Sablayan in Occidental Mindoro, and Gloria in Oriental Mindoro are expected to share their experiences in the implementation of Kalahi-CIDSS in their respective barangays.

Likewise, they are set to learn from over 200 community volunteers from all over the county that are expected to attend the annual event.

The BSPMC is a community organization, composed of various volunteers, who are tasked to carry out the implementation of their chosen community projects.

Through Community-Driven Development strategy of Kalahi-CIDSS, the community members are involved in planning, identification, implementation, monitoring, and management of the development interventions brought to poor communities, with assistance from local-based community empowerment facilitators.

To date, Kalahi-CIDSS MIMAROPA has 32,017 community volunteers who are in the forefront of sub-project implementation in their respective barangays.
