Sibuyao SLP Association goes innovative as they participate in Skills Upgrading on Coconut By-Products cum Good Manufacturing Practices at Brgy. Sibuyao, Torrijos, Marinduque last September 29–30, 2020.

The two-day skills training was successfully executed in coordination and collaborative partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Negosyo Center and Barangay/Local Government Unit (LGU) of Torrijos. The DTI-Negosyo Center provided resource speakers and ingredients while the LGU provided food packs as their counterpart and support for the conduct of the said activity.

During the said training, the association learned some innovative and delicious recipes such as Ube and Pandan Flavored Buko Pie, Lemon,  and Salted Caramel Flavored Coconut Macaroons and Coco Jam. They also learned how to produce coco sugar from coconut sap or “tuba”. The association was also trained regarding  strategic product promotion and marketing to reach more consumers and buyers despite the current COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, Seminar on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) tackled good packaging and labeling of products which served as SLPA’s guide during their production operations.

Mr. Roniel M. Macatol, Provincial Director of DTI-Marinduque also attended the event to show the DTI’s warm support to SLP. “Hindi kaya ng isang ahensya lamang ang pagpapaunlad sa isang samahan o asosasyon kung kaya’t napaka halaga ng pagkakaroon ng partnership sa iba’t-ibang mga ahensya para mas matulungan at mapaunlad pa ang isang asosasyon”, Mr. Macatol said.
