Ferrol, Romblon receives a new Php 2.8 million-worth isolation facility from Kalahi-CIDSS MIMAROPA
Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office MIMAROPA recently turned over a Php 2.8 million-worth community-identified quarantine facility/evacuation center to Barangay Tubigon in Ferrol Romblon.
The newly constructed quarantine facility and evacuation center are under the DSWD’s flagship anti-poverty program Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS).
DSWD Deputy National Program Manager Ma. Consuelo O. Acosta emphasized that the project, which was implemented by the municipality along with community volunteers, aims to help strengthen the government’s response against COVID-19.
“This will enable our communities to properly manage their COVID-19 cases, as well as serve as their evacuation center in times of calamities,” she said.
Community volunteers expressed their appreciation towards the support given by the DSWD through its Kalahi-CIDSS program. They pledged to maintain its functionality especially during the pandemic and in times of calamities.
DSWD, through the Kalahi-CIDSS program, continues to assist the Local Government Units (LGUs) through providing technical assistance and funding projects identified by the communities.
Kalahi-CIDSS is a World Bank-assisted socio-economic project implemented in 2003 by the DSWD.
