“Hinihikayat ko ang mga kapwa ko kababaihang benepisyaryo ng 4Ps na sumali at makiisa sa mga gawain ng komunidad. Ang boses at lugar nating mga kababaihan ay hindi lamang para sa panahon ngayon, kundi para sa mga susunod pang henerasyon (I encourage my fellow women 4Ps beneficiaries to join and cooperate in community activities. As women, our voice and place is not only for today, but also for the next generations),” Rosita A. Eguia stated.
57-year old Rosita of Sitio Calawit, Brgy. Buluang, Busuanga, Palawan is an active Parent Leader (PL) of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) for 11 years. Because of her perseverance and enthusiasm to support her co-beneficiaries, she has helped and encouraged countless of them to comply with the conditions of the program. In order for her to share her skills and knowledge with the community, she is acting as the President of the Sustainable Livelihood Program Association (SLPA) in their sitio. In addition, she is the President of Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) in their area and Vice-President of KALIPI in Busuanga. She also leads the Samahan ng mga Nanay na Katutubo (SANAYKA) where they make souvenirs, such as baskets and carved wood products.
Moreover, as the ocean is the main source of living for the Calamian natives, Rosita is the Chairperson of the Women-Managed Area of the C3 Philippines since 2020 intending to shield threatened marine ecosystems and other undersea resources from intrusive human activity. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Women Gender Network in Busuanga and the Calamianes Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) Network in Coron. With that, Rosita is at the forefront of monitoring marine activities to ensure that the ocean is not destroyed.
She shares her learnings with the community and her fellow natives—not only her intellectual knowledge but also economic expertise. In fact, she was sent to Puerto Princesa, Palawan in 2022 to attend the 2nd Palawan Summit.
PL Rosita truly lives with wondrous skills as she helps her fellow women to be empowered through community activities and economic activities development. May her legacy of dedication and courage continue to inspire everyone and other beneficiaries of the program so that women can continue to have a voice and place in the community.
