It is unfortunate that Ocean’s Best Tuna, one of the items included in the DSWD’s Family Food Packs, has been the subject of numerous complaints from recipients/beneficiaries of the FFPs.

It is important to note that the canned tuna are not expired as can be seen from the samples presented in social media.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian has already directed all Regional Field Offices to recall the canned tuna.

Secretary Gatchalian has also ordered the Central Office to talk to the supplier of Ocean’s Best Tuna for the replacement of the whole lot based on the numerous complaints in the regions.

The DSWD Secretary also directed concerned officials to study all options including sanctions on the supplier, withholding of payment and even blacklisting from the list of accredited suppliers. #
