To formally introduce the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program and discuss possible partnership and inclusion in the EPAHP-Regional Convergence Team (RCT) in addressing hunger and poverty in the region, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MIMAROPA visited the offices of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) MIMAROPA and Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) last January 25 and February 14, 2024.
Present during the consultation meeting are Dannah Rose Melan and Dr. Grethel Loyola of NCIP MIMAROPA, PCUP Luzon Commissioner Andre Niccolo Garcia Tayag, and Atty. Jaliel Basay and the EPAHP MIMAROPA staff.
EPAHP is a convergence program strategy that aims to help eradicate hunger, ensure food and nutrition security, reduce poverty in urban and rural communities including marginalized communities, and establish sustainable agriculture by 2030.
With the possible engagement of IP organizations under NCIP and PCUP, beneficiaries identified as households living under the danger zone area formed as an organization through the EPAHP or Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) may become potential recipients of the program.
DSWD MIMAROPA is now drafting a Regional Memorandum of Understanding to include the NCIP, PCUP, and other potential partners from government and non-government organizations as a new partner for 2024.
