ORIENTAL MINDORO — As part of the DSWD’s responsive efforts of recovering and strengthening the livelihood of the disaster-affected individuals and communities, the DSWD MIMAROPA distributed a total livelihood grant of Php 22,395,000.00 to 1,993 Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) participants in different municipalities of Oriental Mindoro last September 9 – 13, 2024.

1,500 farmers who were severely affected by the prolonged drought in the municipality of Bulalacao received Php 15,000,000.00 from September 9 – 11. The aid was provided to help them recover and rebuild their livelihoods after the said damage. 

In the municipality of Mansalay, 287 residents affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF) were given a total of Php 4,305,000.00 livelihood assistance to help restore their livelihoods after the ASF decimated their pig stocks. In addition, 35 program participants from the municipality of Roxas were provided Php 525,000.00 to support and maintain their approved livelihood projects.

Residents of the municipality of Bansud, also affected by the ASF, received Php 1,590,000.00 while 34 SLP participants from the municipality of Gloria and 31 from Pola received Php 510,000.00 and P 465,000.00, respectively, to start and strengthen their approved micro-enterprises. 

During the 5-day payout, each program participant received Php 10,000.00 to Php 15,000.00 livelihood grant.

The Department, through SLP, continues to deliver and strengthen its mandate of providing more inclusive and responsive livelihood interventions to help disaster-affected families and communities rebuild and establish more stable micro-enterprises.
