Rabia O. De Jesus, the Regional Exemplary Child, during the contest

In   a showcase of talent and dedication, the Regional Search for Exemplary Children 2024 concluded with Rabia O. De Jesus, 12 years of age, from Santa Fe, Romblon emerged as the top winner. Held on August 30, 2024, at the Selah Pods Hotel in Manila, Pasay, Metro Manila, the event celebrated outstanding young individuals from the 4Ps program who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to their communities and excelled in various facets of their lives.

The competition, which drew participants from across the region, was designed to highlight the best and brightest among the 4Ps children. The rigorous judging criteria included awareness and advocacy, presentation and perception, character and decision-making, community and school participation, and behavior and practice. Each contestant impressed the panel with their remarkable skills, dedication, and community spirit.

Romblon emerged as the champion, showcasing exemplary qualities that set them apart from the competition. Their achievement reflects not only their personal excellence but also the strong support and values instilled in them by their families and communities. The win positions Romblon as a regional leader, representing the area at the upcoming National Children’s Congress in Cebu City this November.

The event also recognized other outstanding participants:

  • 1st Runner-Up: Mark Andrei A. Rosete from Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro
  • 2nd Runner-Up: Princez Charmy A. Almario from Calapan, Oriental Mindoro
  • 3rd Runner-Up: Patrick V. Narciso from Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
  • 4th Runner-Up: Jhestine Ayesha G. Gatchalian from Mogpog, Marinduque

Each of these winners demonstrated significant achievements and contributions, and their successes will be celebrated as part of the National Children’s Congress. The recognition serves as a testament to their hard work and commitment to their communities.

The grand winner left the event with significant honors, including a cash prize, an elegant plaque, and a comprehensive livelihood package designed to support their future endeavors. Additionally, all of them received a cash prize, a plaque, and a range of special gifts, recognizing their outstanding achievements and dedication. These awards not only highlight the grand winner’s exceptional performance but also underscore the value of their contributions to their community.

The event was made possible through the generous support of sponsors including Yakult, Mega Prime Foods, Inc. Global Peace Foundation Philippines, Unisarap Corporation, San Miguel Foods, and Fitbar Philippines. 

The judging panel, consisting of esteemed individuals such as Marvyn B. Purificacion of the Council for Welfare of Children, Armi A. Arbutante and Dilsy K. Arbutante from Share An Opportunity, Ph. Inc., Jocelyn F. Remigio from the Global Peace Foundation, and Marvin A. Garcia from DSWD FO MIMAROPA, played a crucial role in evaluating and celebrating the participants’ achievements.

DSWD MIMAROPA Regional Director Leonardo C. Reynoso was also in attendance, offering his support and acknowledging the hard work of all participants. 

Also present at the event was the Ragadio family from Brgy. Candawaga, Rizal, Palawan, who were named Regional Exemplary Family in July 2024. Jay-C M. Lazo, a 14-year-old from Brgy. Danao, Mogpog, Marinduque, attended the event energetically with his father. Jay-C won the Regional Poster Making Contest: Likha ng Bata Para sa Bata. Both the Ragadio family and Jay-C personally received their awards and recognition during the event.

The Regional Search for Exemplary Children 2024 not only honored the exceptional talents of these young individuals but also underscored the importance of nurturing and celebrating the potential of 4Ps children as future leaders and community champions.
