In response to the crisis, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office MIMAROPA distributed Family Food Packs (FFPs) to families and individuals affected by adverse weather conditions caused by shear line that continues to prevail throughout the region.

Based on the latest report, the flooding has subsided in the affected Local Governments of Oriental Mindoro and Palawan, except in the Barangay Bancao Bancao in Puerto Princesa City, a low-lying area where flooding remains. Accordingly, the Internally Displaced Populations (IDPs) from the Two (2) existing open ECs in the said Barangay tried to return to their respective houses, however, due to stagnant water and unbearable smell of the surrounding area that may cause harm to the health of the residence of the said community, the IDPs remain in the 2 evacuation centers.

A total of One Million Nine Hundred Seventy-Five Thousand Eight Hundred Forty-One Pesos and 20/100 (Php 1,975.841.20) worth of Food assistance has been given to affected families. Further, the DSWD MIMAROPA has adequate resources to continue assisting the affected families, with a total of โ‚ฑ141,165,084.23 available, which includes โ‚ฑ138,293,574.23 in stockpiled goods and โ‚ฑ2,871,510.00 in standby funds.

The DSWD, through SWADT Palawan, is still working closely with the Local Government Unit to provide the affected families with the assistance they need.
