MALATE, Manila— A total of 1,718 Listahanan field staff were trained for the second round household assessment this May.

This includes 49 Area Coordinators, 246 Area Supervisors, 1,233 Enumerators and 190 Encoders and Verifiers who will be assigned in Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan provinces.

The series of training were conducted simultaneously from February  to April in MiMaRoPa provinces to equip field staff before the conduct of household assessment. “This aims to enable them to articulate the importance of Listahanan and define their roles and responsibilities,” said Ernie H. Jarabejo Regional Field Coordinator.

Training sessions include strategies used for  interviews such as proper communication. It also highlighted the importance of work ethics and handling of difficult situations encountered in the field.

“Isang napakahalagang bagay na nabigyan kami ng maayos  at mahusay na training para lubos naming maintindihan ang bawat detalye ng aming trabaho at maging handa kami sa aming gagawin,” said Francis Leyco, Area Supervisor.

Highlight of the training is the field simulation where participants are deployed in the area to gather household data.

The second round assessment will update the current list of poor families or the Listahanan Central Database.  Listahanan is the department’s targeting mechanism of identifying who and where the poor are started in 2009.

On the other hand, DSWD calls the public to support and participate on this regionwide activity by allowing field staff to conduct interviews inside their houses to ensure complete, accurate and reliable results.

The result from the assessment will be the basis of targeting potential beneficiaries for government’s social protection programs such as Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, Sustainable Livelihood Program, Social Pension Program and PhilHealth enrollment. ###
