Pola PayoutPOLA, ORIENTAL MINDORO – In response to the massive livelihood effect of the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak in Oriental Mindoro, the DSWD MIMAROPA through the Sustainable Livelihood Program extended livelihood assistance worth Php 4,425,000.00 to 295 affected hog raisers in the municipality of Pola, May 20, 2024.

The swine raisers received Php 15,000.00 each came from the seven (7) declared affected barangays namely Bacungan, Biga, Calima, Campamento, Malibago, Maluanluan, and Pula.

It will be remembered that last November 2023, the Local Government Unit of Pola declared a state of calamity due to the ASF outbreak.

The activity was spearheaded by the DSWD MIMAROPA OIC Asst. Regional Director for Operations Shiela S. Tapia, together with SLP Regional Program Coordinator Sonia R. De Leon, SLP Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) staff, and SLP Provincial Office in Oriental Mindoro.

She further reminds the recipients to utilize the cash grant wisely – use it to recover or start an alternative livelihood venture.
