OCCIDENTAL MINDORO – In the assessment activity on several projects of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the DSWD MIMAROPA conducted by the Occidental Mindoro State College’s Office of the Technology Business Incubation and Development (OMSC-TBID), two associations were identified to receive livelihood resources from OMSC-TBID.

The TBID is a newly established initiative of OMSC designed to support start-ups and technology-related businesses. The program aims to provide the beneficiaries with essential livelihood resources, including facilities, management support like administrative, operational, and legal services, skills training through seminars and workshops, and networking opportunities to connect them with other businesses, potential clients, and investors.

During the pre-assessment, the TBID visited newly established SLP Associations that received initial seed capital funding in 2023. These associations sought technical advice for their projects, such as hog fattening, community stores, rice and feed retailing, and goat raising.

After five days of assessment, TBID selected two associations as their pilot incubates: the Wild Daisy SLP Association with rice and feeds retailing store in Barangay Burgos, Sablayan, and the BSK SLP Association’s hog

fattening project in Barangay Poblacion, Calintaan. For six months, these associations will undergo thorough preparations for the second phase of the SLP’s 5-year Sustainability Plan, known as the Usbong Implementation Stage, with the assistance of the TBID.

Meanwhile, other associations that require further technical assistance will be referred to OMSC’s Extension Department to formally address their specific needs.
