ROXAS, PALAWAN –  Two Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs)  received Php1,200,000.00 livelihood grants from the DSWD MIMAROPA last June 26, 2024, at the IPs Building, Brgy. I, Roxas, Palawan.

The Barangay I Milkfish SLP Association and Milk Crystal SLP Association both consist of 30 members, each ventured to a milkfish grow-out farm. Prior to receiving the grant, the two SLPAs had undergone training like Organizational Development Training, Leadership Training, Basic Business Management Training, and Microenterprise Development Training I to fully capacitate the participants and provide them with the essential skills to sustain the group and be ahead on their projects.

Present during the awarding ceremony are partners who provided significant involvement in the completion of their approved project proposals. 

Brgy. Captain Ariel Zambales, who has supported the project since day 1 planning, gave a speech to encourage the participants to have a never-ending cooperation with each other. 

DSWD Municipal Action Team (MAT) Leader Jhunne Lenin Chris Ampuller emphasized the relationship and connection of DSWD programs, particularly 4Ps and SLP, in helping the beneficiaries alleviate poverty.

Further, Municipal Agriculturist Dr. Benito Del Rosario, represented the Municipal Agriculturist Office (MAO) who conducted site inspections through the Aquaculture Technicians, and provided materials needed for the fish cage creation, estimated product prices and financial projections.

In coordination with different partner stakeholders, the Department hopes to enhance the livelihood assets and improve the capabilities of the poor and marginalized sector through the Sustainable Livelihood Program.
