The provinces of Marinduque, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro were three of the areas battered by typhoon Glenda and is being closely monitored by DSWD MiMaRoPa to assure aid is provided to the affected families.

As of this writing, one individual named George Osmillo from the municipality of Boac, Marinduque was reported missing and authorities are currently in search of the said person.

Various relief efforts are immediately being provided by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) of Occidental, Mindoro. A ‘Community Kitchen’ prepared by PSWDO helped feed families in all affected municipalities of the said province.

All 52 evacuation centers across the region had been vacated. DSWD, in convergence with local government units of affected areas continuously consolidate reports to prepare for recovery support for all affected families.

The department has provided over a hundred relief packs to the province of Occidental, Mindoro and is proactively monitoring the situation across the region to provide support augmentation to the LGUs when necessary.

DSWD MiMaRoPa will conduct full assessment of the extent of damage typhoon Glenda had on the region to provide support accordingly.

                To date, 109 households were totally damaged and 89 of which are in the province of Marinduque. ###
