MALATE, Manila- Earlier today the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MIMAROPA and Epifanio Delos Santos Elementary School (EDSES) Manila conducted earthquake drill in preparation for the ‘Big One’.

According to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or Phivolcs, the ‘Big One’ refers to the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that could hit Metro Manila if the West Valley Fault moves.

“As part of the government’s preparation, Intramuros in Manila City is identified as one of the  evacuation camps across the metro,” said DSWD Director Joel Mijares.

The said disaster preparedness activity  is part of the nationwide earthquake drill set tomorrow (March 31) in accordance to the  Office of Civil Defense memorandum, which was participated by the social welfare staff and officials, and school teachers and pupils.###
