BANTON, Romblon—Through the Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 98 series of 2021, the local government unit of Banton entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on LISTAHANAN data sharing with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MIMAROPA.

The MOA on data sharing is part of the last phase of LISTAHANAN cycle which makes the database of poor households available to all social protection stakeholders.

“In compliance with the provisions in the Data Privacy Act of 2012, DSWD MIMAROPA will hold an orientation to the LGU Banton highlighting the duties and responsibilities of their designated Data Protection Officer (DPO) before the sharing of requested data sets,” said LISTAHANAN Regional Coordinator Ernie H. Jarabejo.

RA 10173 or Data Privacy Act of 2012 protects individual personal information stored in information and communications systems of government and private sectors. It aims to protect the fundamental human right to privacy while ensuring the free flow of information to promote innovation and growth.

To access the list of poor, interested parties are obliged to submit a signed MOA, Sangguniang Bayan/ Lalawigan Resolution authorizing the local chief executive to enter into data sharing agreement, and designated DPO and Compliance Officer for Privacy as required by the DPA , Jarabejo added.

Banton is the 9th municipality in the province of Romblon to enter into a data sharing agreement with DSWD.

LISTAHANAN is a mechanism to identify who and where the poor are nationwide and is used as a basis for the selection of potential beneficiaries of the government’s various social protection programs and services. ###
