BUSUANGA, PALAWAN- The Department of Social Welfare and Development ( DSWD) Region IV-MiMaRoPa in cooperation with the Local Government Unit of Busuanga began recently the distribution of Cash Assistance for rebuilding of houses damaged by super typhoon ‘Yolanda’, last April 9, 2014.

One hundred eighty six (186) households from 10 barangays were enlisted to receive a Php2,750 cash assistance to help finance the reconstruction of their damaged houses. “Malaking tulong po ito para pandagdag sa pambili ng gamit para sa pag-aayos ng bahay namin,” said Wilfredo Goroy, 40, who had been living with his in-laws while rebuilding his house.

Municipal Social Welfare Officer Divine Dulce said that there are numerous organizations who had been giving assistance through cash or kind and is thankful for the continuous support Busuanga receives from DSWD. “Natutuwa kami at naaprubahan yun cash assistance na ito dahil marami sa kanila ay hindi man lang makabili ng pako,” she added.

DSWD allocated a total of Php511,500 for cash assistance to identified beneficiaries in Busuanga. The Department will also distribute cash grant to Coron, Palawan on Thursday were over a thousand houses were wrecked by TS Yolanda.

Busuanga is one of the municipalities in Palawan that received the brunt of ‘Yolanda’ and left at least 1,580 houses completely wrecked.### (Dwight Y. Macabuhay)
