Jecille Arah Costales of Calintaan, Exemplary Child 2017 of Pantawid Pamilya MIMAROPA, together with her family, RPC Vincent Obcena, MIMAROPA Regional Dir. Wilma D. Naviamos, and judges Fernando Macabua of POPCOM and Dilsy K. Arbutante of Norwegian Mission Alliance Philippines, and Rena Gomez of DSWD MIMAROPA IDD.

MALATE, Manila – Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program MIMAROPA awarded Jecille Arah M. Costales from Calintaan, Occidental Mindoro as the regional winner for the Search for Exemplary Pantawid Pamilya Children 2017 on October 13, 2017 at Best Western Hotel La Corona Manila.

Arah, 13, was recognized as the most exemplary child for her outstanding character, intelligence, talent, and wit. She took home a cash prize amounting to P15,000.00 and a plaque of recognition.

“Ang mga kabataan ay itinuturing din na isa sa mga stakeholders ng programang Pantawid Pamilya. Isa sila sa may mahalagang parte sa pagtupad ng mga mithiin ng programa sa aspeto ng edukasyon at kalusugan. Kaya naman mahalagang mayroon silang kakayahan at kaalaman sa pag-abot ng kanilang potensyal bilang miyembro ng Pantawid Pamilya at ng kanilang komunidad,” DSWD MIMAROPA Regional Director Wilma D. Naviamos said on her welcoming speech.

The event is in line with annual celebration of the National Children’s Month to recognize outstanding Pantawid Pamilya children beneficiaries who demonstrated excellence in their homes, schools, and communities.

With Arah as the overall champion, on the list are Jane Rose G. Atienza of Looc, Romblon in 2nd Place and Shaine Marie M. Escobal of Pola, Oriental Mindodo in 3rd Place. Meanwhile, Reanne Kaye C. Rosas from  Torrijos, Marinduque and Ellayza L. Del Castillo from Roxas, Palawan got the 4th and 5th Place, respectively. Arah also won the Best in Talent Certificate of Achievement and Shaine was given a Certificate of Achievement for her outstanding choice of formal wear in the Question and Answer Portion.

On its 6th year, the event also became an avenue to award the regional winners of the Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya, the Mendoza Family from Sta. Cruz, Marinduque, and the Search for Ulirang Parent Leader, Norma L. Somodio from Bansud, Oriental Mindoro.

Arah will represent the region in the National Search during the National Children’s Congress on November 13-18, 2017 in Metro Manila. She will compete with the other 16 regional Exemplary Child winners from all over the country. ###
